My family has been personally touched by the challenges of Parkinson’s disease. My Dad, Henk, was diagnosed with PD six years ago and my mom is his primary support person and advocate. My mom's oldest brother, Case, also lived with PD for 16 years prior to his death four years ago. I am walking in honor of Dad and in memory of Uncle Case.
This is the sixth consecutive year that the "Walk4Pake" team are participating in the PD Superwalk. This year we will be walking on Sunday, September 8 at Mill Lake Park in Abbotsford. We are excited that the Superwalk is in our hometown of Abbotsford and that my Dad will be able to attend!
Parkinson’s disease is the second-most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer's and can manifest itself in a range of both motor and non-motor symptoms. Living with Parkinson’s can be incredibly challenging for the individual as well as their family, friends and carepartners. Currently, there is no cure.
Your donation will help Parkinson Society British Columbia continue to provide valuable programs, services, advocacy efforts and research contributions. I hope you’ll support our walk this year and help us reach our fundraising goal. Every dollar is one step closer to improving the lives of those in need.
We appreciate your support not only financially but also with your words of encouragement, prayers and visits. Thank you!
