Welcome to Team Mayne’s page!
This year my family and I will be participating in the Parkinson's Superwalk on Mayne Island. My family has lived on the island in one way or another since 1984. In 2010, my dad Patrick was diagnosed with PD. Since then, his condition has gradually worsened and he has lost most of his mobility. Last year, along with his partner Kit and my two little brothers Ethan and Brody, they made the decision to move home to our beloved Mayne Island from Victoria.
The support from the community since their return has been overwhelming. This little island with a population of 1,000 has been instrumental in creating a support network for my dad and family ensuring they are well taken care of through meal trains, social visits, and fundraisers on their behalf.
Despite the small population, Mayne Island has four residents who are living with Parkinson’s. Sadly, one of these individuals lost their battle this summer. This year, my family and I will be participating in the Superwalk in honour of the community member we lost as well as supporting the others on the island living with Parkinson ’s disease, including my dad.
Any donation is greatly appreciated.
