In 2003 I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. For the next 15 years, I was one of the fortunate ones with mild symptoms that reacted positively to medication. However, Parkinson's is a progressive disease and, for me, it now appears to be progressing quickly. I am scheduled for Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), however the date has been postponed 5 times now due to covid.
Living with Parkinson’s can be incredibly challenging for the individual as well as their family, friends and carepartners. Currently, there is no cure. Parkinson Society British Columbia is the voice of British Columbians living with Parkinson's. Their purpose is to ease the burden and find a cure for Parkinson's disease through advocacy, education, research and support services.
ROn Saturday, September 12, 2020, I will be joining some of the other 13,000 people living with Parkinson's in British Columbia by taking part in a virtual 2019, our annual fundraiser for Parkinson Society British Columbia. I am not asking people for donations this year, however, if you are willing and able to donate, please do.
Thank you!
