My Husband, Henk, and I have been touched by the challenges of Parkinson’s Disease. Henk was diagnosed with PD seven years ago and although he is now in a care home, I remain his primary support person and biggest advocate. My oldest brother, Case, also lived with PD for 16 years prior to his death five years ago. I am walking in honor of Henk and in memory of Case.
This is the seventh consecutive year that I and the rest of the "Walk4Pake" team are participating in the PD Superwalk. Because of Covid-19 restrictions, this year will be different for us as we're not sure if we will walk together as a team or virtually but we will still be fundraising for the Parkinson's Society of British Columbia.
Parkinson’s Disease is the second-most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer's and can manifest itself in a range of both motor and non-motor symptoms. Living with PD can be incredibly challenging for the individual as well as their family and friends. Currently, there is no cure.
Your donation will help PSBC continue to provide valuable programs, services, advocacy efforts and research contributions. I hope you will support our walk this year and help us reach our fundraising goal. Every dollar is one step closer to improving the lives of those with PD and finding a cure.
We appreciate your support not only financially but also with your words of encouragement and prayers for our family. Thank you! Ann
