My name is Lynda. I've been personally touched by the challenges of Parkinson disease. My dad, Barry, has Parkinson Disease (PD). He wants me to tell you that it is so much more than just tremors. He has trouble walking, his body freezes, he falls alot, hallucinates sometimes which is scary, problems swallowing leading to several intense choking episodes, internal issues and overall pain. This is his story. Each PD story is different. My dad also wants you to know... DON'T LOSE HOPE. Each day is a fresh start. This last year has been really tough for my dad yet he still encourages others. He is my hero.
THE NEED: With over 13,000 British Columbians diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, and the worldwide incidence expected to double by 2040, the need is greater than ever.
THE FACTS: Parkinson's disease is the second-most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer's and can manifest itself in a range of both motor and non-motor symptoms. Living with Parkinson's can be incredibly challenging for the individual as well as their family, friends and carepartners. Currently, there is no cure.
As this cause is close to our hearts, each September our family has committed to participating in Parkinson SuperWalk. This year we will be walking virtually and holding small events in our community to walk and bring awareness to PD. We would really appreciate your support. SuperWalk is Parkinson Society of BC's largest fund raiser and provides much needed resources for so many things, from advocacy and research $ to funding services to those living with PD.
YOUR PART: Help us achieve TEAM BARRY's fund raising goal of $1000. WE NEED YOU and your money . Please consider making a donation to our team.
All contributions, no matter how big or how small, are critical to those affected by Parkinson’s. I hope you’ll support my walk this year and help me reach my fundraising goal.
Please support me. Thank you!
