Family and friends,
This September, we are again participating in Parkinson SuperWalk. This is the eighth year of our involvement in the Parkinson SuperWalk fundraiser and we are looking forward to participating in the Abbotsford SuperWalk once again. Although Carolyn will be very limited in what she can do (due to the degeneration of two of the lower discs in her back) she hopes to attend to cheer on those who are walking. Harold is willing to walk in her place and, hopefully others, will be willing to step up and join him in the walk. Parkinson's Disease is still very real in our lives, and we have committed ourselves to helping raise funds for Parkinson Society British Columbia as we have found their support so very helpful.
The idea for our team name, “ParKrahn”, comes from the word “parkour” which is a training discipline using only the human body and the surroundings, with a focus of maintaining as much momentum as possible while still remaining safe. As a person who is living with PD, Carolyn’s desire is to keep moving as long as possible and what gives her momentum for this comes most often from you - her family and friends. Also, the first four letters of our team name is “park”, which also happens to be the first four letters of Parkinson’s.
We ask you to join with us in our journey with Parkinson’s Disease by making a contribution. "Parkinson Society British Columbia is supported entirely by donations from individuals, members, corporations, foundations and the dedicated efforts of our volunteers." (PSBC website) All contributions, no matter how big or how small, are crucial to ourselves and all affected by Parkinson’s. We hope you’ll support our walk this year and help us reach our combined fundraising goals of $3,000.00.
Parkinson’s disease is the second-most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer's and can manifest itself in a range of both motor and non-motor symptoms. Living with Parkinson’s can be incredibly challenging for the individual as well as their family, friends and carepartners. Currently there is no cure. Please help us bring hope to all affected by Parkinson’s Disease.
Your donation will help Parkinson Society BC continue to provide valuable programs, services, advocacy efforts and research contributions. Every dollar is one step closer to improving the lives of all who are affected by Parkinson's, and will be an encouragement as we continue to hope for a cure.
Thank you!
Carolyn and Harold Krahn
